I’ve been eating it in my native region since I was a little girl.

Flammekueche (tarte flambée in French) is a food specialty from Alsace.

Traditional Flammekueche is simply made of bread dough, creme fraiche, onions and bacon (lardons in French).

Best baked in a wood-fired oven, although it can also be baked in a traditional electric oven (but it’s not as good!)

Flammekueche is also available in salted variations: with cheese, with Munster cheese, or with mushrooms…

And also sweet variations: apples, chocolate, whipped cream…

My personal opinion:

The ambiance and view were undeniably charming, reminding me of the rich history of Alsace. While the food was flavorful and representative of local cuisine, portions were a tad on the smaller side.

Though bustling, the friendly service and crisp, flavorful tarte in “L’Amandine” made up for it. Just wish there wasn’t a construction mar on the view 🙂

My personal opinion:

I tried a flammekueche amidst a beautiful ambiance. Although some dishes had room for improvement, the overall experience was enhanced by the cordial staff and their efficient service. Certainly a spot to consider when in town!

In the Winstub Lory The warm, rustic ambiance was inviting, and the food offered authentic Alsatian flavors. A must-try: the white asparagus and the wine list. Recommend for true regional tastes!

I savored in “Meisermann” a flammekueche that didn’t quite meet my high expectations. While the setting and service were charming, the dish felt underwhelming. Good white wine and good ambiance.

My personal opinion :

I tasted here a flammekueche that beautifully combined tradition with charm. Though the dish leaned towards the heavier side, the exquisite backdrop and mostly attentive service made it worthwhile. I’d encourage you to experience this Alsatian delight, especially in cooler seasons.

An authentic flammekueche experience in Restaurant “Au Koïfhus”! For my friends some dishes, like the “cocotte”, were heavy. The wine and service charmed me. Would revisit for the ambiance.
